Property Tax
4 benefitsStandard Veterans' Tax Credit
Veterans who served 90+ days in qualifying conflicts receive a $50 credit off property taxes. Municipalities may adopt an optional $500 credit.
All Veterans' Tax Credit
If adopted by the municipality, provides a $50 (or optional $500) credit for veterans who served 90+ days active duty, not limited to wartime service.
Cannot be combined with the standard veterans' credit. Town or city must vote to adopt this credit.
Disabled Veterans' Tax Credit
Veterans with a total and permanent service-connected disability receive a $700 property tax credit. Municipalities may adopt an optional $4,000 credit.
Surviving Spouse Property Tax Credit
Un-remarried surviving spouses of veterans who died on active duty or from a service-connected disability receive a $700 credit, with an optional $2,000 credit if adopted by the municipality.
Income Tax

New Hampshire has no state income tax on wages, salaries, or retirement income. Military retirement pay, active duty pay, and VA disability compensation are all untaxed.
The former Interest & Dividends Tax was fully phased out effective January 1, 2025.
